Sustainability at Stiles By Lauren
At Stiles, sustainability isn’t a marketing buzzword. It’s a commitment we’re growing into every day.
We’re not perfect, and we’re not claiming to have all the answers. But we believe that clothing can be made more thoughtfully, more locally and with a whole lot more care.
Made To Last
We choose fabrics that are durable, wearable and made to be loved for years, not just a season. Whenever possible, we source locally and work with deadstock and thrifted fabrics, giving beautiful materials a second life instead of contributing to unnecessary waste.
We also try to use every last bit of fabric. Offcuts become moonbags, scrunchies and other small pieces because we believe the little things matter too.
Our hope is simple: that your Stiles piece becomes something you wear again and again, then pass on to someone else.
Community Over Big Factories
Stiles exists because of the people behind it.
Our garments are sewn by local seamstresses, many of whom live in under-resourced communities. Our knitwear is hand-knitted by incredible local grannies in Fish Hoek, each piece made slowly, with skill, patience and heart.
We also collaborate regularly with local artists, makers and creatives because we believe creativity grows best in community. Supporting local isn’t a trend for us, it’s part of who we are.
Choosing Slow
Slow fashion is about being intentional. It means creating fewer, better pieces, producing in smaller quantities and resisting the pressure to constantly chase the next trend.
We don’t want to overproduce. We don’t want our clothes to end up in landfills after a handful of wears. We want them to become part of your life, your memories and maybe even someone else’s one day.
Thank you for choosing clothing made with care. Every purchase supports local hands, thoughtful production and a slower, more sustainable way of doing fashion.
